Rabid Anti-Muslim Websites on
DefensiveJuly 25, 2011
The Norway Terrorist was not only
inspired by the U.S. Tea Party but also by many U.S. websites and he
mentions them in his manifesto such as the “Jihad
Watch” operated by Robert Spencer, the “Gates of Vienna” blog and “Atlas
Shrugs” by Pamela Geller.
The operators of the websites
should be on the defensive. They have emphasized terrorism as only a Muslim
threat and downplayed U.S. domestic terrorism. Now, their extreme views have
motivated a man to kill dozens in Norway.
The risk of violence or terrorism
must be assessed without regard to politics or religion. Using these
principles, rabid anti Muslim websites must be in focus by national security
agencies.
In response, the website
operators can't simply call the Norway Terrorist a nut or a “lone wolf” and
be absolved. Inciting a person to commit a crime is a crime whether here or
there.
