PEBP
Unfunded Liability Reduced
September 26, 2011
The PEBP Board proposed changes to the state employee health plan last year
and this year, Sandoval takes full credit for them. The facts are that the
changes were proposed last fall before
he was elected but this is typical of a transparently corrupt governor. It
doesn't matter to him that he takes credit for something he did not do.
Like I said previously, his
corruption is amazing but I respect that he is so open about it unlike
Gibbons. This means he doesn't care about anyone but himself. He knows his
casino and mining support will keep him is power and warm at night.
Anyway, the unfunded liabilities
were significantly reduced by about $874 million in FY 2010 - BS (before
Sandoval) with about $976 million left. To do this, the state insurance
plan was changed to a high deductible one and Medicare retirees were
switched to an Individual Market Medicare Exchange.
FYI: Future new hires who retire
from the state will no longer get health insurance.
