More Carnival Barker Nonsense

December 11, 2011

There is an email going around about Obama's birth certificate, the one he released in April 2011. It is referenced below. Anyone can see the certificate and it can be viewed here: http://msgboard.snopes.com/politics/graphics/longform.pdf  or  http://talkingpointsmemo.com/documents/2011/04/president-obamas-long-form-birth-certificate.php?page=1&ref=fpa

My comments are:

1.  The birth certificate does not list a race for Obama but does for his dad and it shows his race as "African" in box #9, "Race of Father". Where "African-American" or even "Negro" came from is probably from Orly Taitz the " birther queen" who said it in April 2011. http://www.thegrio.com/politics/orly-taitz-obamas-birth-certificate-should-say-negro-not-african.php

Again, the only reference to race I can find is for his dad.

2.  Kenya has been around well before Obama's birth or even his dad's. It became the "Republic of Kenya" on  December 12, 1963 which was new and different from being a colony. FYI, It adopted a new constitution in August 2010.

The term "Kenya, East Africa" was not an unusual term for the day since Kenya was not yet a Republic but a colony of Britain in East Africa.

3. The term, "British East Africa Protectorate" refers not only to Kenya but to Uganda and part of the Indian Ocean. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Africa_Protectorate

The protectorate was created to advance British colonial interests.

That area was a British protectorate from July 1, 1895 to July 23,1920 when Kenya became the "Colony of Kenya" aka "Kenya Colony" until 1963 when Kenya became a republic (formal country). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenya_Colony

  4.  The  "Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital" was created in 1958 which is BEFORE Obama was born. A good page to visit is: http://nicedeb.wordpress.com/2011/04/28/yes-there-was-a-kapiolani-maternity-gynecological-hospital-in-1961/

The children’s hospital where Obama was born, eventually became the "The Kapi’olani Medical Center For Women And Children" in 1978.

It is amazing what people will do to attack Obama.

Attack him for his politics and for what he says but doing this, makes a mockery of their position and of them. It is unseemly and makes them look like "nut-jobs" which they probably are (Think Orly Taitz and The Donald).

The "major media" hasn't discussed it because their "facts" are wrong and their position is just more bullshit. Obama referred to such people as "carnival barkers" last spring which is descriptive and accurate. He also said "We don't have time for this silliness."

Here is the email in question:

Very Interesting Bit Of Detective Work”

1. Back in 1961 people of color were called 'Negroes.' So how can the Obama 'birth certificate' state he is 'African-American' when the term wasn't even used at that time?
 2. The birth certificate that the White House released lists Obama's birth as August 4, 1961. It also lists Barack Hussein Obama as his father. No big deal, right? At the time of Obama's birth, it also shows that his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama's father was born in " Kenya, East Africa ". This wouldn't seem like anything of concern, except the fact that Kenya did not even exist until 1963, two whole years after Obama's birth, and 27 years after his father's birth. How could Obama's father have been born in a country that did not yet exist? Up and until Kenya was formed in 1963, it was known as the "British East Africa Protectorate".
3. On the birth certificate released by the White House, the listed place of birth is "Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital". This cannot be, because the hospital(s) in question in 1961 were called "KauiKeolani Children's Hospital" and "Kapi'olani Maternity Home", respectively. The name did not change to Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until 1978, when these two hospitals merged. How can this particular name of the hospital be on a birth certificate dated 1961 if this name had not yet been applied to it until 1978?
