Joe Walsh the
Welcher
November 4, 2011
Last summer Representative Joe Walsh, a Republican from Illinois was outted
as having about $117,000 in unpaid child support for his three children. To
this day, the debt is unpaid despite court intervention and attempts to
resolve the issue amicably.
He showed his contempt for the court and his family by failing to appear at
a court hearing about the payments. Walsh was rebuked by a judge in
mid-September for failing to personally appear regarding his child support
case. Incredibly, in a fit of arrogance, his attorney said he shouldn't have
to appear because he is a Congressman!
Now, this faux-family man was recently recognized as a “True Blue” member of
Congress by the
Family
Research Council (FRC) for being pro-family. The FRC is a politically
active and fundamentalist Christian group that frequently attacks gays and
abortion providers. After receiving this recognition Walsh crowed about how
proud he was to be recognized as having a pro-family record.
Yeah, right.
Apparently, Walsh does not care that the group recognizing him is a
hate group according to the Southern Poverty Law Center because of their
anti-gay views. He also does not understand that providing child support is
the least he could do for his children. He can argue the amount is too high
but he should have paid what he could while the case was being reviewed by
the court. Even this was too much to ask of him.
Joe Walsh is not a man because a man takes care of his family. He is a
deadbeat because he expects his ex-wife to pay for everything. He is
anti-family and his recognition by the FRC shows what kind of people run it.
They are like Walsh, devoid of morality and basic human decency.
