Ensign Resigns – Now He Needs to
Go to JailApril 21,
2011
John Ensign announced his resignation April 21, 2011 citing the effects on
his family. Good riddance.
It was time for Ensign to resign; he should have done that in 2009. His
arrogance and corruption has been breathtaking and the lack of consequences
have been as well. This has embolden him, made him confident that nothing
will ever happen.
He might be right.
Ensign fooled around, lied about it, paid off witnesses and has been cleared
by investigative agencies while the man married to his mistress was charged
with
violating conflict of interest laws.
Ensign has not been charged with anything.
It's not fair and very political.
The lack of action not only protects Ensign but those in his inner circle in
Congress who advised him what to do. It also paves the way for Republicans
to replace him with someone who can win an election next year.
Politics aside, something should
happen to Ensign. He needs to be charged, tried and hopefully sent away for
a long time. He has thumbed his nose at justice and Nevadans for too long.
Transparent corruption like this
must not stand.
