What Teabaggers Won't Talk About

February 6, 2010

Tea Party members like to claim the Constitution as their own, and like the Bible, they pick and chose what they want but only if it supports their views. To them, if the Constitution doesn't refer to it, then it must be unconstitutional. That would make the Internet unconstitutional.

They claim they are patriots for freedom, but only for freedoms defined by their warped views and bad memories. It is also shaped by racism and their patriotic fervor is being stoked by this base human characteristic. They don't like Obama because he is black and a Democrat. A nice combo to rally around for like minded people, who are mainly white and middle aged. The 2008 elections will always be their political cornerstone.

They like to wrap up in the American flag, claiming a moral high road. It is us against them, and the “them” are liberals and anyone else who disagrees with their views including many Republicans and all Democrats.

They have verbally and morally boxed themselves into a corner. They say one thing and do another but being hypocritical is just part of life in the Teabagger world. They don't see it because Fox News says so.

Also part of the Teabagger world are short memories of our recent past, specifically 2000 through 2006 when Bush and the Republican party were in office and in total and absolute control. They no longer remember this:

Nearly a billion in tax cuts to the wealthy which lead to record breaking deficits they now decry.

Billions in subsidies to big companies such as oil conglomerates and which added to the deficit.

Lack of over sight of large banks and investment firms which lead to the Recession and more big government and higher deficits.

The Patriot Act passed in the early morning hours which legalized “wire taps” on every American without court oversight. More big government intrusion.

Bush saying his executive power enabled him to have any American arrested and detained indefinitely if they were suspected of terrorism. The principle of habeas corpus was a cornerstone of our liberty but that was negated in an instant.

The torture of prisoners in defiance with the Geneva Conventions which we agreed to decades before. This made our soldiers more vulnerable on the battlefield.

The Iraq War started by lies about WMDs then re-purposed to “We need to fight them over there and not here”. This has cost almost a trillion dollars with at least more two trillion before it's all over. All war costs are part of the deficit.

The Bush doctrine which stated that the United States could, if it felt inclined and without any provocation, invade another country.

The passage of Medicare Part D which added hundreds of billions to the national debt.

Have the Teabaggers forgotten all this and more? Yes!

Is it because they supported all that and more? Yes!

Is it possible they do not have the Constitutional and moral high-ground and are hiding behind platitudes and hollow words? Yes and more.

Teabaggers are hollow Americans, little substance with only hypocritical rhetoric. Not the type of Americans anyone would want running the United States. If they were honest, they would agree.
