Thuggery is Not Democracy
March 23, 2010
On March 22, 2010, Bryan Fischer, in his
blog,
“Bryan
Fischer-Focal Point”
expressed his displeasure at the the
new health care legislation by stating in part:
“State
governments can legitimately and constitutionally decide not to cooperate
with the central government on the legal ground that Congress has
transgressed the boundaries marked out in our founding document. The central
government is trespassing on the sovereign territory of the states, and the
states have every right to throw them off their property.
Trespassers can be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Squatters can
be evicted. If they won't leave, they can be tossed. And in the worst case
scenario, if they won't surrender peacefully, they can be shot.”

So,
Bryan Fischer is out for blood and revenge against a Constitutionally
elected Congress that decided to pass legislation he does not like.
He
nullifies his all his good arguments in his
blog arguments about state rights after advocating violence.
Calling for shooting anyone is wrong and hysterical.
The United States is a republic created by
the Constitution with laws enacted to carry out its provisions. One
provision,
Article I, Section 8
in part says:
“The
Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes,
Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common
defence and general welfare of the United States; but all
Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
...”
“To
provide for the general welfare” has had a broad and powerful effect for
over two centuries. For example, the Medicare and Social Security programs
are federally mandated and Constitutional because they provide for the the
general welfare of the United States. The new health care program will also
be Constitutional for the same reason.
If Fischer doesn't like something he needs
to stop acting like a spoiled child and follow the Constitution such as
working to change the current slate of elected leaders and challenge laws in
court.
Its a peaceful process unlike shooting
someone in the head.
