New York's Muslim Center Madness

A group of Muslims want to build a Muslim community center in New York just like their Christian counterparts have done in other communities. But because it is close to “Ground Zero”, Republicans and Fox News have been clanging the alarm bell saying they don't have the right and even claim they are un-American for even considering such a project near such 'hallowed ground”. Unfortunately, using fear and outrage easily sways the uninformed and bigoted.

All this is nonsense but it certainly plays well with conservatives and bigots in the Republican Party. By creating this issue, they have again shown their true character. It shows how un-American and Constitutionally disconnected they are.

The truth is this: It is un- American to suspend property owners rights because they happen to be Muslims. Muslims can buy property, build a center on it and pray when they want to. If this were a Christian center would there be such an outcry? No.
