Arizona, the Constitution and Capitalism
May 12, 2010
It is not "leftist" to defend the
Constitution as some in Arizona are implying (State senator Sylvia Allen)
after she voted for their draconian immigration bill. It's not.
Unfortunately, this is where we are heading... the Constitution is for
whites and something other than that for non-whites.
The pressures on the Constitution are clear and are from the right. For
example, Dubya called the Constitution “just another god damned piece of
paper” after his Patriot Act went through and he went wild spying on
everybody and got caught. This sums up his administration and the
Republicans in power with him. Unfortunately many of those slugs are still
in office.
There is little faith in our border patrol system and the Arizona police who
will enforce the laws. Again, what about the Latino American citizen who
will be compelled to carry identity papers like in Nazi Germany? Whites and
illegals who are white will have little to fear. It is now time for illegals
from Asia and especially Europe to settle in Arizona!
Certainly, securing the borders is necessary before a "path to legality" is
created. But is was not done before or after the Reagan administration which
gave blanket amnesty to millions in the late 1980's. The amnesty greatly
magnified the problem to benefit corporations and other businesses which
want cheap labor. Think construction, agriculture and casinos. We need to
make those businesses accountable and throw corporate officers in jail for
hiring illegals.
But then, Reagan and Bush didn't do that
did they? They actually encouraged illegals while Clinton was basically
neutral. And now conservatives blame liberals. What bullshit that is.
Really! BS to cover up their inaction and active participation and
encouragement in this mess.
The drug trade drives the violence at border states, especially in Arizona.
Until Americans stop using drugs, this will never go away. There is too much
money in it. A solution would be to give addicts free drugs via prescription
where they go to clinics for them and where there is treatment so maybe 10
percent can be successfully rehabilitated. This would take the profit out of
this situation.
Whenever making drugs freely available is suggested, the police groups get
up in arms. Not surprising, they get loads of money from the "War on Drugs"
bureaucracy. A third of the cops would probably be out of a job. Drug
dealers and cops have a sick and twisted symbiotic relationship, they need
each other to survive. Pathetic. Nixon started that nonsense in the early
1970s and everyone bought into it without looking at the economics and
societal impacts. Trillions later and what do we have to show for it? A
bigger problem.
Maybe the Arizona laws will bring this to a head and force states and the
nation to really look at the problem. The Arizona laws are a knee jerk
reaction borne out of frustration. The counter reaction will surely hurt
their economy. In the end, the pressures for illegals to enter the US will
still be there... that is, someone wants to hire them for low wages and the
drugs guys want to move their product. This is certainly a capitalist
process on all sides.
