Conservative
Pundits and the Declaration of Independence
May 16, 2009
Conservative pundits are
what is wrong with the Republican Party and Obama will win again because of
them. They like to use supporting documents such as the Declaration of
Independence and the Constitution as a way to support their cause.
Unfortunately they can't get things straight for all the bullshit and lies
they sling.
Millions of people listen
to the pundits and those who describe themselves as "religious right". They
believe G.W. Bush was chosen by God, they love Rush, think
all liberals are
Satanists (actually they believe all non-republicans are liberals and
therefore Satanists... incredible circular logic). They chatter about how
Obama is the anti-Christ and blame him for the Iraq War and the Recession.
It goes on and on.
Conservative commentators
feed this illogical frenzy. It makes them money and gives them notoriety.
Pundits go on and on about
the Constitution and the Founders. They think the Declaration of
Independence was a template for a new government and society. It wasn't. The
Declaration of Independence was a "declaration of war" and not the founding
principles of our country.
The Constitution created
our Republic. I wish conservatives would get that straight... did they miss
that part of history class in school?
The Declaration basically
created a lot of chaos and a collection of independent states mostly at odds
with each other with separate currencies, rules, no common defense, etc.
Separate countries really. Luckily the Constitution was adopted before the
English attacked in 1812, otherwise we might be part of the Church of
England and kind of like Canada!
The Declaration was a "poke
in the eye" at the king who thought because he was king and head of the
church he was all powerful like the pope. He
was the pope of the
Church of England which is just a modified form of the Catholic
Church. Because of this, the founding fathers didn't want to have anything
to do with religion and said so in the Declaration which really annoyed the
king. The rest is history.
