Why
Republicans Will Not Win Again
November 8, 2008
Republicans are
gnashing their teeth and blaming everyone for Obama's win. They still “don't
get it” and it appears they never will. To be successful they will need to
change their Party into something Americans will embrace. Here are some
comments to Republicans for their Party:
Understand this, Sarah Palin brought down the
party and McCain in 2008. She was inexperienced and ignorant and seemed
proud of that fact and so did her supporters. Her appeal were to racists and
born-again Christians, a no-win group if there was one. Crowd appeal means
nothing if it is divisive, angry and racist. It would also help if she did
not lie so much and Republican men must stop calling her “Hot”. If you
continue to be a Palin supporter then your party is doomed to repeat its
2008 failure because "you really don't get it".
McCain was unable to distance himself from G.
W. Bush and this cost him and the Party dearly. Bush Republicanism is a
failure, yet about a quarter of all Americans, mostly Republicans, still
think he has done a good to great job. You have to be kidding.
The party needs to end corporate welfare and
take back the trillions they gave to them. Raise their taxes as repayment to
the Treasury. The corporate socialist America created under Bush-Cheney and
the Republican Congress failed. All U.S. corporations must pay taxes but
right now almost 60 percent do not pay a thing. Unbelievable!
The Party needs to end their mantra, “War is
good for business” and stop the war machine and wars they created,
especially in Iraq. They also need to support our soldiers when they send
them to battle such as providing good generals, adequate armor, bullets and
medical care. It wouldn't hurt to make sure they have a good GI Bill package
and post war medical treatment which also covers mental illness.
Republicans need to agree to tax the rich
like they were taxed under Clinton in the 1990's and give breaks to working
Americans who are the real strength of the economy. Obama's $250,000 income
threshold before taxes would rise should work but maybe a half million would
too. Just get started on this. Quit whining and understand the media talking
heads you listen to and believe are millionaires and will naturally resist
this plan. They are looking out for their interests and not yours
financially or politically.
Republicans need to be less adversarial and
try to reach a compromise where they can. Negotiating is not a sign of
weakness but strength. This also applies to International politics. Don't
think so much in back and white or whether they are with us or against us.
Excise the criminal and fanatical element of
the Party. Specifically thieves, power mongers, sex perverts and religious fanatics
who are currently the Party's base nationwide. Don't engage or support them because
it validates their beliefs and makes you look bad and immoral. Remember....
"guilt by association" is real.
Republicans need to understand the economic
collapse was their fault and was due to the lack of financial
oversight and corporate greed they encouraged during the Bush
Administration. They must understand no economy can withstand this
immoral economic framework. It would also help to not blame Obama for your
Party's misdeeds. He did not create the economic crisis, your Party did and
it started when Bush took over.
Renewable energy is your friend and oil and
gas drilling are not. There is
no way drilling will help our energy balance sheet either now or in the
future but renewables will. Renewable energy will also create jobs so subsidize it to encourage
innovation and employment within the United States.
It would help if we
stopped exporting the million and a half barrels of oil and oil
products we produce each day to other countries. Exports were allowed and
encouraged under the
Bush Administration and that must end. Our exports are equal to two ANWARs
and is available immediately to stabilize our energy prices and help the
economy.
Republicans need to re-read the U.S.
Constitution and call for its application in all areas of government and
society. Start by helping to repeal many laws passed collectively by Bush and his
Republican buddies. You could also help get to the bottom of all those "signing
statements" which exempted Bush and his cronies from applying the law.
Learn about Barry Goldwater Jr.,
it will help you understand how far you have left the path of Republicanism.
If you don't know, Goldwater was a U.S. Senator from Arizona and served from
1969 to 1987. He was also the Republican Party's nominee for President in
1964. Goldwater was conservative and at times controversial but explained
his positions in a way people could understand and did it honestly and
openly. Learn from him.
Stop with the Reagan Era
nostalgia, that was then and this is now. The Reagan Administration did
little to stop AIDs a dreadful disease affecting not only gays but millions
of other others and it spread faster by his inaction. Thousands needlessly
died. Reagan transferred billions to the rich using tax cuts, he
created a bigger government and massive debt which resulted in a recession
so deep that many call it a “Mini-Depression”. His
administration also spawned many wars
worldwide. Incredibly, we seem to be at the same place we were in the 1980's
and the key to this is the Republican Party.
Oh yeah... Reagan did not win the "Cold War".
Get over it! Every president,
soldier and citizen before him were equally responsible for
ending the Cold War as we knew it then. Note: The Cold War still rages but
in a different form.
It is unlikely
the Republican Party will be able to change in time for the next
Presidential election and possibly never. It will require hard work and ethics and there
is not enough of that within the Party at this time. Maybe in a generation or two,
America will have an honest, meaningful and effective Republican Party that
speaks to the average citizen in a way they can understand.
