What Republicans Face in their Future
November 10, 2008
Not long ago,
Republican strategists proclaimed their party would be in control for
decades. The 2008 Presidential Election shows their hubris and political
stupidity. This is what the Republican Party has standing in their way:
Young voters overwhelmingly voted for
Democratic candidates. Only a small percentage more voted than in the past,
but those who did vote, chose Democrats. This indicates a future shift in
elections as they enter middle age and still vote Democratic.
Though millions of black voters traditionally
vote Democratic and this year showed a significant increase at the polls
which might be sustainable. It is certainly a troubling trend for
Republicans.
Educated Americans are trending Democratic
and un-educated ones are staunchly Republican. This trend identifies
Democratic voter geography as big cities with educational centers. Remember,
there are more people in cities and suburbs and most are becoming Democrats
and voting that way too.
Republican voters are overwhelmingly white
while most of the country is not. Republicans have not been able to embrace
cultural and ethnic diversity. Their exclusionary policies are detrimental.
The 2008
Presidential Election is a warning to the Republican Party. They must stop
lying to themselves about what they currently represent.
