How Bush Supports
Insures a Future Terror Attack on America
August 27, 2007
Bush has been two faced about his alleged "hunt for bin
Laden". After 911 he said he would get him "dead or alive" and a few years
later, was saying he didn’t care about him, that he was not that important.
It is this frame of mind that has let bin Laden escape justice and emboldens
more terrorists and insure another attack. Bush, in a perverse way has
become bin Laden's ally and this is why:
Bush let bin Laden get away in December 2001. His
generals on the ground, under direction from the Administration hesitated
and refused to send additional Rangers to "get him" so Bin Laden escaped to
northern Afghanistan and Pakistan where he has many friends.
Bush made Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf a friend
and ally. At best, he should have made him a tool or asset to be used to get
bin Laden and his terrorist supporters. Now, Bush openly supports Musharraf,
supporting his government with money. All the while, bin Laden moves along
the mountain passes of Afghanistan and Pakistan, protected by allies
including Musharraf.
Bush was warned the opium business in Afghanistan was one
of the greatest threats to the United States because the money from those
operations support tribal leaders loyal to bin Laden and Al Qaeda. Bush did
not care…. he certainly did not act to destroy the crops and buy out tribal
leaders. Now opium funds the terrorists in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.
Al Qaeda is stronger than ever.
Bush through Rumsfeld and his generals, would not allow
our troops to hunt bin Laden, pay off tribal leaders and do what was
necessary to kill the enemy. Field commanders called for more troops when
they believed they were close (and they were) in 2002 and 2005 but their
requests were denied. The Bush Administration emasculated our terrorist
hunters insuring they would fail and bin Laden would live free.
Bush has given unqualified support to Saudi Arabia, the
source of intense support for terrorists through its religious schools. He
ignored the reality of that country’s active support for terrorists and in
so doing supports terrorism at its root.
Then, there is the Iraq War which drained troops and
other resources from Afghanistan. It took the attention away from destroying
the people who attacked the United States in 2001. Iraq is a new
concentration point for more terrorism where radicals test weapons, bombs
and tactics on our troops with bloody results.
There is no indication that al Qaeda, bin Laden, or any
radical Muslim group has backed off. On the contrary, they have kept up
their rhetoric and followed it up with many coordinated bombings. There are
more jihadists than ever, with more terrorist schools teaching radicals how
to kill Americans and succeed in another attack on America.
United States will be attacked again because Bush has
failed us on the “War on Terror”.
