Another Perverted
Hypocritical Republican
August 29, 2007
GOP Senator Larry
Craig from Idaho plead guilty for being disorderly in a Minneapolis airport
restroom. Authorities say he solicited sex from an undercover policeman,
using body language only familiar to gays such as foot tapping and other
suggestive movements.
Craig said, he made
a deal to make the whole thing “go away” but admitted that tactic did not
work. Now, he blames the newspaper the “Idaho Statesman” for making his
public case public and says defiantly he is “not gay”. He also claims the
policeman, sitting in wait in the adjoining stall misinterpreted his
movements and activities; besides he said has a “wide stance”, whatever that
means.
Restroom sex is
creepy and perverted and not acceptable whatever your sexual orientation. A
wide stance is also creepy for anyone.
Now, the GOP
leadership in Washington want an ethics investigation and some are asking
him to resign. It is so bad that even Bush said he was “disappointed” and
Mitt Romney, the dog abuser accepted Craig's resignation as an advisor for
his bid for President. All this are
good political moves
before the 2008 elections. They really don’t care what Craig does but
because his a colleague and got caught, they have to do something to show
they are not like him.
This case, again
shows continuing Republican party hypocrisy. It also seems to show a party
full of gays and bisexuals diverting attention from themselves by attacking
people like them.
Craig is no
different. He has supported a Constitutional amendment against same sex
marriage and does not want to include gays in anti-discrimination laws.
Plus, he believes in “family values” as embodied by his party which don’t
seem very family-like.
Republicans can’t
afford to have another member accused of sexual misbehavior such as Mark
Foley from Florida in 2006. They fear Larry Craig is the Mark Foley of 2007.
Of course, Craig needs to resign, but incredibly it does not appear he will
go quietly and what are seeing now is his self-righteous stubbornness.
To blunt further sexual escapades like these,
all Republican politicians should take
an “I am not gay” oath and promise not to tap their shoes in a restroom.
And, let's not talk
about a "wide stance".
