Robertson’s Stoke of Stupidity
January 6, 2006
This
week Pat Robertson, of “The 700 Club” celebrity and infamy said Israeli
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's recent stroke was God's punishment because
Sharon divided ‘God's land” and He will not tolerate it. Robertson went on
to declare: "I would say woe to any prime minister of Israel who takes a
similar course." And spoke for God by saying, "This land belongs to me.
You'd better leave it alone."
Now,
let's get this straight… Sharon gave the Palestinians some land with the
hope for peace and God decided to pop a blood vessel in Sharon's brain to
show how really pissed off He is. Plus, it seems He authorized Robertson to
be His spokesman on Middle East issues and the Bible in general.
God
help us!
It
appears God does not like peace, especially in the Middle East and will
smite anyone who tries to the violence. Based on events in the past 100
years, this might be true because there has been one war after another.
Robertson's God must be pleased at the holocaust. God’s rule, “Keep
killing or be smitten” is not much of a choice, but God's ways are
mysterious.
But.....
Jesus
said to love everyone and if we took this to heart, there would be peace.
Now, now Robertson implies it is God’s prerogative to disregard the “love
everyone” rule and hate is god-like.
God
help us with the confusion!
If a
person believes in God, they would readily understand that the entire
universe, the earth included is “God's Land”. And because God is God, no
one can take anything away from Him.
Let’s
err on the side of love and peace and disregard Robertson’s vindictive and
parochial rantings and find it within us to love him anyway. Damned, now
that is going to be hard to do!
Please
God, forgive us if we fail, we are only human!
