Abu Musab al-Zarqawi
June 9, 2006
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a terrorist leader in Iraq was
killed in an air strike on June 8th after the U.S. military
dropped two 500 pound bombs on a "safe" house. He survived the blasts but
died soon after Iraqi and American forces arrived at the scene.
Good thing the bastard died. It is also good this
terrorist and sworn enemy of America died knowing who killed him.
The bad is that someone will take his place and thousands
will make him a martyr and an example for others. Hopefully his replacement
will not be as competent and ruthless in terrorism as he was.
In the short term, the violence and death will increase
and more civilians will die along side of our soldiers. His supporters will
want revenge and will try to hit back hard. This will again point out the
need to have a more realistic view of the Iraq War and a plan to win or get
out.
Realistically, the Iraq War is now a civil war with more
than a thousand Iraqis dying each month and hundreds becoming refugees after
leaving hostile areas they once called home. Iraq is grouping itself along
religious lines with terrorists like al-Zarqawi stirring things up.
This will not end soon.
Right now our soldiers are caught in the middle and it
must not be that way. Either make plans to leave right now or send thousands
of additional soldiers to wipe out the bad asses on all sides all the while
killing every terrorist in the way.
Like we should have done in Vietnam, make this a real all
out war or get out now.
