Stanley "Tookie" Williams Must Die
December 12, 2005
Stanley “Tookie” Williams
murdered four innocent people more than twenty years ago and was found
guilty on March 13, 1981 in Los Angeles. He must die because:
- He was
caught and found guilty in a fair legal process. His protestations of
innocence ring hollow and are merely the rantings of a man afraid to
die. His victims were also afraid to die. The terror they felt when they
heard the click of his gun just before he murdered them must have been
incredible. His fans, like his fellow gang members, don't care.
- A
nomination for a Nobel Prize is meaningless and is not a get out of
death row card. He was really nominated to bring attention to the death
penalty in the United States and not to specifically to focus on
Williams. Adolph Hitler and Mussolini were also nominated for a peace
prize which puts “Tookie” on the right list.
- His appeals were prolonged for
his benefit but his case and his life must now end. If there were any
substantive errors, they would have been found by now. He was fairly
tried and convicted and the death penalty was appropriate for his
heinous crimes.
- He must set an example to the
children who read his books. He should have written a book explaining
that criminals such as he, must pay for their crimes and sometimes the
payment is death. Unfortunately his son followed daddy's murderous ways. "Little Tookie" also a Crips
member, was found guilty of murdering a 20-year old woman in Hollywood
and was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
- Though he spoke out against
violence and gangs, the “Crips” Gang, which he founded in 1971, cruelly
killed hundreds during his incarceration. His words were obviously
ineffective because he didn't want them to be, after all he was still
their leader and people who cross him must die. Plus, prison officials believe he ordered many deaths from
his prison cell.
- Criminals are sent to death
row, not to be rehabilitated but to await their execution. Through the
years, the courts have said he deserves death for being such a vile
human being and rehabilitation attempts would be useless.
- He and his supporters must
understand that clemency is not given to anyone for claiming innocence
but is granted for those who first acknowledge their crimes. Even Ted
Bundy and John Wayne Gacy said they were innocent, but fortunately got
what they deserved.
- Society deserves justice and
sometimes revenge. His fans forget that he boasted about how he laughed
after he killed one of his victims. That alone supports revenge.
- Williams has never shown
remorse or apologized for his criminal actions which is typical of a
person without any shred of humanity. He and his supporters must
understand that society will not apologize for his execution because his
death will be a small measure of justice for his victims and their
families.
- Stanley "Tookie" Williams is
not innocent, only his victims were.

On the evening of February 27, 1979 Williams
killed Albert Owens, 26, a Seven
Eleven store clerk in Whittier by shooting him twice in the back with his
shotgun as his victim lay on the floor. Williams netted $120.
Then, in the
early morning of March 11, 1979, he killed Yen-I Yang, 76, Tsai-Shai Chen
Yang, 63 and their daughter Yu-Chin Yang Lin, 43 all Taiwan immigrants who
operated the Brookhaven Motel in Los Angeles. Williams broke down the lobby
and residence doors, and as they screamed in terror shot them all. He
netted $100.
