Only if Convicted…Bush Lies Again
July 18, 2005
At a press conference on July 18, 2005, Bush said that he
would fire anyone who was convicted of a crime in the CIA-leak case. This is
certainly a different statement he made on June 10, 2004 when he said fire
anyone involved. Now that his good buddy and advisor, Karl Rove has been
outed as a liar and a government secrets leaker, Bush has decided to support
him instead the rule of law and break his promise to the American people.
His July 18th statement shows what he will do
to protect Rove. This is not surprising since both have criminal minds and
are liars as well.
During the past two years Bush has said that neither
Rove, Libby or Cheney had anything to do with the leak. It looks like he was
wrong on at least two counts… Cheney is pending. Bush knew his statements
were false and said it anyway. Now he repudiates his earlier statements
about what type of conduct was acceptable and proves law breaking and lies
are acceptable in the Bush Administration.
To deflect any further discussion Bush now says it would
not be prudent to discuss the issue during such a serious investigation but
this didn't stop him from making comments and pronouncements soon after the
investigation started. Back then, he lied when he said he would not
tolerate the outing of a CIA agent.
To make matters even more annoying, Ken Mehlman the
Republican National Committee Chair said those criticizing Rover owe Rove an
apology. Nonsense, the entire Bush administration and the Republican Party
owe the American people an apology for the likes of Rove, Libby and Cheney.
They should be ashamed of themselves but they won't be
because they are in control of the government and wield power like
dictators. They think they will get away with it, but the weight of their
lies grows each day, just look at our war dead and maimed in Iraq.
