Is Gannon/Guckert Bush’s Monica Lewinski?
April 26, 2005
Jeff Gannon or Guckert was outted as a fake reporter a
few months ago. He was a regular at White House briefings and asked planted
questions of the press secretary to make Bush look good. He was probably
well paid for his efforts.
The story does not end after his credentials were pulled.
Much more information has come out about Gannon/Guckert besides the claim he
was a fake reporter and is a gay escort. The main issue now is that he had
incredible and easy access to the White House. Since 2003 he reportedly
visited the White House almost 200 times using a “day pass”. This is
certainly regular access not granted to outsiders.
To make matters more conspiratorial, he would not always
sign in or out when visiting and called on the White House when there were
no briefings for reporters. So, it seems the visits were for personal or
professional reasons. It also seems he was not an outsider.
What is going on here? What about the security risks?
What about the Oval Office?
Did he meet with White House operatives for briefings
about policy to help him with the setup questions? And/or was he visiting as
a male escort at the behest of Bush or his staff? If true, one wonders
whether this is an impeachable offense as it was with Clinton.
Recently, the Republican party (GOP) has been renamed the
Gay Old Party because so many high ranking managers running the organization
are gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it seem incongruous
with the Republican party of line of hating or at least disrespecting gays
and lesbians. Self hatred is such a powerful thing emotionally and
politically.
Now we have a gay man with regular and secret access to
the White House.
All this seems tawdry. It sounds like the stories of past
presidents sneaking in women into the White House for fun and relaxation,
only this time it involves a man.
The GOP has come a long way, baby!
What annoys most is that Republicans hide behind the
Christian faith to cover their transgressions and to burnish an image of
respectability when none actually exists. Too bad that isn't an
impeachable offense!
