Bush’s Panic Over Iraq
June 24, 2005
The last few months in Iraq have been bad for our troops.
Hundreds have been killed and wounded because of increased attacks by Iraqi
insurgents. The bombs have also taken their toll on Iraqi citizens. The
blood will not go away and Americans are noticing and they are not happy.
Most now believe the Iraq War is being handled improperly and Bush’s overall
approval rating is below 40 percent.
The mainstream press, most cable news and conservative
talking heads have refused to show what is really happening in Iraq. The
Bush-loving press can avoid announcing the body count, refuse to show
pictures, and continue to play up only the positive aspects of a war, their
viewers are not clueless. Americans can and are searching for the truth for
themselves.
The Administration knows the truth is very bad for them.
After all, they have lots of things to hide and have been lying about the
war from the beginning. Truth means panic time in the White House with
Congress sure to follow. (Elections next year, you know)
The Bush Administration's panic mode means they will try
to re-justify the Iraq War in different terms also called lies. But hey, it
worked before the Iraq War, why shouldn’t it again?
We were first told the war was over WMDs (and that was a
lie) and Bush now says the war in Iraq was started ‘we were attacked”.
Attacked by Iraq? In what way? How many Americans did Saddam kill before we
just had to attack him and take over his country? Bush cannot respond
because to do so would follow the June 18, 2005 “we were attacked” lie
with another. Maybe he snorted something bad before his radio address on the
18th and couldn’t help himself and blurted out another blooper.
It wouldn’t be the first time for him you know!
Oh yeah, remember that Bush himself said in 2003 that
there was no 911 link. to Iraq.
Instead of coming up with new reasons and diversions
himself, Bush has his political attack dogs do it for him. For example,
Condi Rice said on June 19th that Americans were told the Iraq
War was a “multi-generational commitment”. Now that is news and a very bold
lie for a Secretary of State with Democratic political attack dogs at her
door.
If one recalls, the Administration was saying at the
start of the Iraq War that it would be brief and our troops would be coming
home by December 2004. Rumsfeld said in 2003 at the start of the war that
it probably wouldn’t last six months. Even Dick Cheney said the war would be
short. Are they clueless or a liars? Both are equally bad.
In the past couple months Rumsfeld said the number of
insurgents has been steadily decreasing because of American attacks on their
hideouts. However, General Abizaid, the military commander in Iraq said it
was increasing, hence the increase in the number of attacks on our troops,
contractors and civilians. General Abizaid, makes sense and is believable.
But his boss Rumsfeld is a liar.
And to top it off, Karl Rove, Bush’s closest advisor said
in a speech that Democrats/liberals were weak in their response after 911
and it was Bush and the Republicans who saved the day and prepared for war
as needed. Certainly there were some on both sides opposed to a quick
response in Afghanistan after 911 but nearly everyone else in Congress and
the country wanted to kick Taliban ass right away and were impatient it
wasn’t done faster. Rove’s recent speech is typical of a panic diversion. It
is also a bold faced lie and he knows it. But then, he doesn’t care, Bush
supports him.
In the end, the people who must pay dearly are our troops
being killed and maimed almost everyday. Bush and company don’t care; after
all they are comfy and safe in their offices and homes. Plus, their children
are not enlisting and dying so what’s to worry?
