Bush Says the National
Guard is a Waste of Money
May 31, 2005
After checking the list of proposed
base closures, it is incredible that so many National Guard bases, offices
and locations will be shut down. Maybe this is necessary but one wonders.
Base closures started during the
Daddy Bush administration in response to the new realities of U.S. security
of the late 1980s. Overall, the military was downsized using a very
politicized process that always generated controversy but worked. Clinton
followed through on those plans in the 1990's.
No community wants its base closed
and as expected, are voicing their opposition. Bush’s response to
critics was that spending money on the bases was a waste and would be better
spent in Iraq.
Incredible! That’s a slap in the
face to the thousands of National Guard members who have gone to Iraq from
those bases.
Maybe the reason he has focused on
the Guard is that when he was assigned to a Guard unit in the 1970’s he
didn’t show. He disserted his unit in time of war to snort cocaine,
smoke pot, drink to excess and generally screw around. And he thought no one
would notice.
What kind of perverted human being
would say that money for Guard units supporting the “war effort” is a waste
of money and not worthy of consideration. Maybe Bush thinks all guardsmen
and women are like he was and so their jobs should be eliminated..
Buy hey, he doesn't care! He isn’t
running for re-selection. He believes the thousands of patriots soon to be
unemployed and who probably voted for him in 2004, will just have to deal
with it.
Too bad Daddy Bush didn't "deal with
it" and his son years ago. But then, Daddy's everywhere have always had
problems with sociopathic sons who make believe they have morals and hide
behind religion like Christianity. The proposed National Guard unit closures
and reasons for them are a symptom of a sick mind made worse by substance
abuse.
Oh yeah..... how can Bush claim
fiscal responsibility now when he and his party spent the Clinton-era
surplus, increased the size of government, created trillions in debt mainly
to benefit the rich and gave billions in handouts to oil and drug companies?
Yet another symptom.
