Born Again Virgin - Are you Kidding?

The Georgia man whose fiancée ran
out on him described himself as a “born again virgin”. He seems earnest when
saying it and since he is part of a born again church, this must be
something “they do” to help deal with sex and associated guilt.
But, "born again virginity" is real
to many Christians. It means they decide at a point in their lives, there
will be no more sex before marriage and promise themselves to stay away from
temptation. This must make them feel better and especially so because they
don’t have to understand the reasons why they had sex in the first place
when their religion said they should not have.
"Born again virginity" is convenient
self-absolution trying to remove the sin and guilt about sex. How nice! But
if you “did it”, you can’t take it back and become a virgin afterward.
All this seems typical of born again
cults which say that whatever you have done before no longer matters after
you accept Jesus as your savior and are baptized. This is simply a religious
way to avoid responsibility and guilt by hiding behind Jesus’ robes and also
seems a lot like a Catholic confession session where sins are absolved.
What you do and have done is always
your responsibility. Always. And no amount of biblical babble and water
dunking will change that. None.
It is a matter between you and God.
Trust God to make the right decision and not you or your church. God sees
you for what you are and born again labels do not matter.
Born again rituals, whether being
baptized or re-virginized, are just an emollient to the psyche. They won’t
change the soul because it interferes with learning about God’s principles.
It makes you think you have a ticket to heaven when you don't.
