You Might Be A Bush Republican If . . .

January 15, 2004

You believe a popular vote for president can be set aside by a Supreme Court which voted along political party lines to select Bush as President..

You believe an arrest for cocaine possession in 1972 should not be public. The sweetheart legal deal made by daddy for you to avoid jail time is just good family values. Bush even admitted working at a center for troubled youths back then to wipe the slate clean. Done deal.

You believe it is OK not to deny the allegation that you played air guitar to a Foghat record at a party in the late 1970s while participating in youthful indiscretions involving alcohol and possibly cocaine.

You believe the worth of a man is determined by the size of his bank account and not his character. Size does matter.

You believe 15 to 20 years of drinking alcohol and snorting cocaine was just youthful indiscretions and it is rude to ask about them.

You believe deserting your country in the time of war (May1972-May1973) while a member of the Guard is honorable national service.

You believe skipping required drug tests and medical exams is OK because they were hard to pass during those youthful indiscretion days. Besides it never stopped Bush from flying a plane for the Guard while indiscrete!

You believe marrying well even though as a teenager the "little woman" killed a teenage boy in Texas because she ran a stop sign. The incident was covered up, no investigation was conducted and to this day, no knows why.

You believe lying about invading a country is a good thing because its leader had it coming anyway. Besides, he tried to kill Bush's daddy in the past.

You believe in thanking God for everything Bush has done so this must include every lie told, the number of which only God can count.

You believe the country should not have any budget surpluses. Thank God the surplus from a Democratic president was quickly spent by 2002.

You believe tax cuts for the rich are a good thing for the country especially the poor.

You believe the 911 Commission is overreaching when it wants the truth about what Bush knew and what he didn't do to protect America. So lying, covering up, stonewalling and attacking anyone seeking the truth about 911 is justified. Oh yeah, it is OK to bring up Bill to divert attention.

You believe outing a CIA agent because her husband exposed some Bush lies is OK. After all he was probably a Democrat AND a liberal and had it coming.

You believe deficits are good and bigger the better. So we have them, bigger and at historical proportions.

You believe deficits will not affect future generations who must face significant tax increases to pay for them. And you say you love your kids and grandchildren. Shame!

You believe in bigger government but say you are for a smaller one to get votes.

You believe Jesus was a Republican and would stone Democrats and liberals today.

You believe "small government" is just a campaign slogan. Never mind that the Bush government growth rate was more than double that of Clinton's. This excludes the War on Terror even!

You believe lying about sex in the Oval Office is impeachable but lying about weapons of mass destruction to invade Iraq is presidential.

You believe lying to start a war that kills and wounds our citizens is a good thing. And never mind the civilian casualties, Hussein would have killed that many by this time already, so they don't really count.

You believe in giving exclusive non-competitive contracts to business associates because it is just good business and a great deal for everyone.

You believe repeating lies over and over will make them true. No wonder you pray so much and are all religious for the cameras.

You believe attending funerals for our soldiers killed in Iraq would give a wrong impression. But every president in the past thirty years has honored our war dead at funerals, no matter what party affiliation. They also left a good impression.

You believe "Bring it on", was a great macho statement and struck fear into the hearts of the enemy. The result was more attacks and more dead and wounded soldiers. Pitiful!

You believe the only true religion is Christianity, preferably evangelical, all the rest don't really count except when campaigning.

You believe the Constitution says Christianity is the official religion of the United States. Are you surprised it doesn't?

You believe in quoting the Constitution and the Bible but have read neither.

You believe others must have moral values like yours but yours keep changing depending on politics.

You believe everything drug addicted Rush Limbaugh says and quote him at every opportunity to support Bush.

You believe in Teddy Roosevelt's philosophy that might makes right and war is good because it strengthens the character of a nation.

You believe talking to God is spiritual though many who are poor and do the same, are locked up for it or live on the streets.

You believe corporations are more important than employees and find no problem with a jobless economic "recovery". So what that two million people became unemployed since January 2001. They are just an annoying statistic.

You believe anyone who disagrees with you is un-American, a liberal or both. Free speech is only for your allies not your opponents.

You believe an American family value is when daughters emulate their father and become party animals and drunks just like him.

You believe in bigger government and spending increases each year so you and your party can win elections.

You believe in rewarding illegal behavior by creating a new work program for millions of illegal Mexicans. What next, citizenship after Bush's re-selection in 2004?

You believe image is more important than honesty.

You believe that membership in the Skull and Cross Bones Society is just a college thing, though to be part of it, required oaths to false Gods in pagan rituals.

You believe is it OK to lie about Iraq, saying the WMDs were the reason, though Bush had plans to invade in January 2001. Lying about that is OK too.

You believe the Patriot Acts protect Americans by removing fundamental constitutional protections for everyone. Will "they" come for you next?

You believe companies that transfer hundreds of thousands of jobs to India are doing good for America and our economy because it "keeps corporate costs down" and profits up.

You believe unemployed Americans are whiners, after all there are thousands of new part time and minimum wage jobs. They just need to get one and deal with it!

You believe a new medicare drug plan costing billions of dollars will benefit retired folks more than the drug and health care companies that helped write the plan. And the Tooth Fairy lives too!

You believe in a smaller government but support the Bush government that writes thousands of new laws and creates new agencies and departments such as the Homeland Security Department.

You believe it is OK to pass along the costs of new federal mandates to the states. It is OK that States must raise taxes because the federal government overspends.

You believe rolling back environmental protection laws is good for the environment and business.

You believe Federal unfunded mandates don't affect the tax burden of the citizen, at least not the federal tax burden.

You believe every question for which you cannot make up an answer requires mentioning Bill or Hillary.

You believe in "right to life" except in war or for people who perform abortions.

You believe homosexuals can change if they want, forgetting you have never  been to able open your mind to new ideas because of your religious or political beliefs.

You believe politics and religion should be integrated especially if it means more votes from the "Christian Right".

You believe government should not solve personal problems and decry social programs which try, but support spending more than a billion dollars to encourage marriage.

You believe poverty would end if people were allowed to keep more of their minimum wage.

You believe being a Christian makes you and yours pure and righteous..

You believe you don't need to read newspapers or watch TV after all, you can confidently rely on friends and associates to tell you the truth as they see it.

You believe in conservative ideas and advice, but base decisions on ignorance and gut reaction to the situation at hand.

You believe breaking promises is "just part of the game."  To wit, it is OK for the Department of Energy to lie and cover-up to make Yucca Mountain in Nevada a reality for corporations in the east which make big political contributions.

You believe it is OK to lie about WMDs, nuclear weapons and al Qaeda links to invade a country that did not attack America.

You believe WMD programs or documents which mention them are weapons of mass destruction.

You believe in punishing work by keeping payroll taxes high and rewarding the wealthy by keeping taxes on dividends low.

You believe fuel cells are a good idea only if the hydrogen they need comes from oil.

You believe humans have no direct affect on the earth's weather and the ozone hole is just eco-hype.

You believe government should be run like a business but it happens to be one like Enron, corrupt and bankrupt just like the Bush government is today.

You believe pension plan protection is not a big deal. So what if the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation had a 7 billion surplus in 2000 and now has a 10 billion deficit. Oh well, just add that missing 17 billion dollars to the record deficit.

You believe being arrested in 1976 for drunk driving is just a youthful indiscretion and lying about it to run for governor and president it is OK

You believe it is rude and wrong to ask about youthful indiscretions at any time.

You believe a DUI conviction is a badge of honor, heck even vice-president Cheney has two DUI convictions from the early 1960s.

You believe Officers Candidate School (OCS) is for losers. The written and drug tests were too hard in the early 1970s so a "direct appointment" to second lieutenant was the only way to go. Oh yeah, again it is rude and wrong to ask about this.

You believe being smart is overrated, after all, failing the written test for OCS in 1970s doesn't mean you can't be an officer, a pilot, become a governor or even steal a presidential election in 2000.

You believe failing the test for Flight School with a score of 25 percent (50 percent is passing) doesn't mean you can't fly a plane and desert the Guard to party hearty with the substances of your choice, alcohol and cocaine. Again it is rude and wrong to ask about this.
