War Hawks Don’t Want to
Look at the Faces War
April 29, 2004
On Friday April 30, 2004, Ted Koppel of ABC
will say the names and show the pictures of more than 500 soldiers killed in
the Iraq War. ABC says the broadcast will be a tribute to the sacrifice
they made for our country.
This immediately raised the ire of many who
felt the broadcast is just anti-war propaganda and not really news. They
also claim it undermines our war efforts.
To add to this controversy, Sinclair
Broadcasting plans to censor free speech by pre-empting the broadcast from
stations it controls. Their action certainly politicizes the issue and
undermines American democracy.
How would telling the truth about the
deaths of our soldiers be undermining anything except the political
aspirations of Bush and his supporters?
Bush and his supporters are not willing to
look at the tragic outcomes and horrors of the Iraq War. They don’t want to
be reminded of what war means. The faces of the fallen will show mostly
young men and women who willingly sacrificed their lives for a war, Bush and
the neocons started by lying.
Deep down, do pro-war neocons think the
death of our soldiers in Iraq was in vain and don’t want the public to
know?
