The Iraq War and Occupation is Criminal

May 23, 2004

When Bush decided to invade and conquer Iraq, he did it alone and without significant help from traditional allies. The Coalition in Iraq is a sham and everyone knows it except Bush and his supporters.

Bush rationalized the invasion by citing WMDs none of which have been found. Though Bush admits they are not there and even joked about them, he is still hopeful they will be found. This is so incredible that many believe Bush will order WMDs planted so they can be found.

The initial military operation in 2003 was a success. Our military might did its job and overran the country as expected. Combat casualties were relatively  few but casualties since combat was declared over are troubling.  It is a symptom of a leadership failure from the White House and Congress.

Our citizens and soldiers deserved a war planned from start to finish.

Who is to blame? All of us to a point, since we were gullible and accepted Bush’s lies as fact. But the average citizen must rely on its politicians and military and diplomatic employees to evaluate, plan and implement government actions especially if they involve war.

They failed.

These words come to mind when describing the Iraq War and Occupation:  Corrupt, immoral, incompetent, conspiratorial, negligent and criminal.

Iraq was contained before the war and was not an immediate threat. The lack of WMDs supports that. Attacking Iraq diverted our attention from Afghanistan which did attack us through al Qaeda. We have yet to destroy that group or its supporters. This shows Bush failed in his “War on Terrorism” and proves he does not consider it a real war.

The war in Iraq is a political war by an corrupt Administration determined to unseat Saddam Hussein at all costs and impose American power in the Middle East.

This proves malfeasance and incompetence. The blame lies with many such as Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith, Carl Rove, Eliot Abrams, “Scooter” Libby, Dick Cheney, and Condi Rice.

Those complicit in the Iraq War will not be held to account for their actions in this life but God will certainly condemn them in the next.
