Shame on Us and Jackson
February 13, 2004
Michael Jackson supporters say he looks at the world
differently. He feels he is still in his childhood because he never had a
normal one. That is why he likes children and thinks of himself as one.
Their comments seem like justification for
molestation. They excuse his behavior such as sleeping with boys in his bed.
So, they are saying if you think you are 12 years old,
it is fine to explore your sexuality with 12 year old boys.
But .... Jackson is in his mid forties.
What would happen to a man in his mid forties who
thinks it is fine to explore his sexuality with a 12 year old girl because
he feels like he is twelve.
There would be justifiable outrage.
Why doesn't Jackson get his weenie spanked for his
behavior? Is it because:
He is rich and famous and can enlist public support
and hire good legal representation?
He is black, and the race card is always available?
Molestation of boys is treated differently than that
of girls. That it is somehow OK to victimize boys and not girls.
Frankly, is all of the
above.
This is an indictment not only of Jackson and his
supporters but also the "legal system" which cowers at financial and
celebrity power. Unfortunately they see and treat male and female victims
differently.
It is also an indictment of our society across the
board and to every person in this country because we support this nonsense.
Shame on us all.
