Pro-lifers Aren't
November 27, 2004
Pro-lifers make a big deal about the need
to protect life at conception and do not believe abortions are acceptable
except in very rare circumstances. They make it a point to say life begins
at conception, which is biologically impossible to challenge. They argue
even embryos must be protected.
Fair enough. But pro-lifers only focus on
life from conception through birth and fail to consider the life of a human
from start to finish. Pro-lifers aren’t pro-life, they are pro-birth. They
should call themselves "pro-birth" because it is more accurate and not
hypocritical.
There is a big difference between the two.
Pro-life means you resist any attempt by
anyone to prematurely end the life of any person. The ultimate pacifist.
If you are really and truly pro-life:
You would be against all abortions no
matter what.
You would be against the death penalty for
any crime.
You would be against war, even the one in
Iraq.
Your would be against suicide.
You would be against euthanasia in any form
and for any reason.
You would be against anything societal,
political or religious which could cause the death of another person.
Pro-lifers who believe the War in Iraq is
okay are not pro-life. If they believe in the death penalty, they are not
pro-life.
Few are pro-life. In a violent world filled
with violent people e can't afford
to be pro-life to survive. They
are many who kill without hesitation and for many purposes and reasons,
usually for politics and/or religion.
Certainly you can rationalize your
“pro-life” position by saying, “in this context, I am pro-life” but that is
just covering a lie by implying you have a moral high ground which you do
not deserve.
So, which are you? Be honest.
