King of Pop and the Crocodile Hunter
January 4, 2004
On January 2nd, Australian crocodile hunter Steve Irwin held his one month
old baby boy under his arm while feeding a crocodile during a show at his
zoo. Irwin held the baby just one arm's length away from the croc and after
feeding the animal he held the baby near the ground, helping his son "walk"
toward the croc pond.
The danger to the baby was obvious except to Steve who expressed surprised
at the negative reaction. He said he was in "absolute control" of the
situation and there was no danger to his son.
This incident is much the same as the one in November 2002 where the "King
of Pop" dangled his baby from a balcony of a hotel in Berlin. The "King"
said he was just caught up in the moment and there was no danger to his son.
He too was surprised at the public reaction.
Both fathers put their children in danger for selfish reasons which was to
play to the crowd and keep the focus on themselves. Self centered people are
always surprised at the truth. They think only of themselves.
Child welfare authorities investigated each incident and nothing happened.
Too bad. "Child protection" implies protection for children and not parents
who act like children.
