Bush’s “War on Terror” Flip Flop is Bad News
August 31 2004
On Monday, August
30th, Bush said on NBC News’ Today Show, of the "War on Terror", “I
don’t think you can win” and added, “But I think you can create conditions
so that those who use terror as a tool are less acceptable in parts of the
world.”
Bush and his spin
doctors had to change the message so, Bush the Flip-flopper said in a speech
to an American Legion group on Tuesday: “We meet today in a time of war for
our country, a war we did not start yet one that we will win.”
The “guy in charge”
first says we can’t win then says we can. If he doesn’t know, then we are in
real trouble.
The War in Iraq is in
disarray and by Bush’s admission this month, said he "miscalculated" the
resistance. Yet, he was advised of potential resistance and the many
consequences of a war in Iraq well before the war started. Bush ignored his
advisors and made a decision for war based on his desire to “get Saddam”
because the dictator tried to kill his daddy. He used lies about WMDs to win
over the American people.
Now he says we can’t
win. Isn’t that nice! And he wants to run as a "wartime president". Oh
please!
Some might say he
didn’t explain himself fully or it was just a slip of the tongue. Those are
just more excuses for a man who hasn’t got a clue and doesn’t want one.
Bush called the War in
Iraq a “catastrophic success” I guess this means he wasn’t prepared. He sure
as hell wasn’t and it was his job to be prepared.
Bush’s “catastrophic
success” created more terrorism worldwide and especially in Iraq. His
success caused hundreds of deaths and thousands of casualties for our
military.
The War in Iraq has
made sure we won’t win just as Bush originally said. Iraq is now training
ground for terrorists, and has created alliances never thought of before.
Their one purpose is to destroy the West, especially the
United States.
Bush does not
understand that. The "War on Terror" is just more politics to him.
Bush has a simplistic
view of the world and this limits his ability to plan for the future. When
confronted with inconsistencies and problems he uses slogans written by his
handlers.
This reveals the real
problem with the "War on Terror" … it is Bush himself and let's remember his
words, “I don’t think you can win”. No, we can’t win with Bush the
Flip-flopper in the White House.
