Kerik-Bush Cons

December 19, 2004

Bush selected Bernard B. Kerik as homeland security secretary recently and within a few days, Kerik bowed out and for good reason. His con game was exposed and from there, much of his sordid background began to surface. The "nanny problem" was a cover for things he should have known would have been exposed.

Kerik was offered to Bush by former New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani. Giuliani and Kerik have been friends and business partners for many years. Their relationship is politically based so it can’t be for good moral character of either man.

Bush got conned.

A simple “Google” search on Kerik would have turned up many things that would make it impossible for him to survive the nomination process even with a Republican controlled Congress.

Some of these were:

Hiring a nanny who was an illegal alien and not paying payroll taxes. This charge may not be true and may be a fiction to cover up more undesirable background problems.

Four marriages with one possibly “overlapping”, a nice way to imply he was a bigamist.

While married, cavorting with two overlapping mistresses, using an apartment next to Ground Zero for his trysts.

Taking gifts of cash and things and not reporting them as he should have. I guess not reporting them makes them bribes.

Maintaining ties to a construction company which has ties to the mob. He may have even tipped off his “business partners” regarding impending legal actions by the authorities.

Doing little as Iraq’s interim Minister of Interior or as an adviser to Iraq’s Coalition Provisional Authority. Observers in Iraq say he was just taking up space and getting paid well for it.

Yet, Bush said through his spokespeople he was aware of some of Kerik's problems but believed he could survive the nomination process and so supported him.

This means Bush finds tax-evasion, lying, bribing, cheating and fornicating as something supportable if not politically desirable at first glance and the Republican Congress would eventually agree with him.

Thankfully another Bush con job was stopped.

Where are the moral values we have been hearing about? Frankly, Republican moral values is just another con job?
