African AIDS Crisis Caused by Poor Leadership and Ignorance
April 8, 2004
The African AIDS
crisis has killed millions and will kill millions more in the next few
years. Africa’s Leaders are too
wrapped up with political power and money to make any real effort to stop
the epidemic.
The epidemic has
momentum and will be difficult to change. One start would be to take an
honest approach to the problem and tell their citizens that their behaviors
are also a problem.
The following are the
major issues responsible for the AIDS crisis in Africa:
·
Promiscuity in general,
especially of males.
·
Dry sex practices which
result in injury to the woman allowing the virus to enter her.
·
Not using condoms.
·
Lack of education about AIDS
in government and at the community level.
·
Rape of virgins to cure AIDS.
·
Stigmatization of anyone with
AIDS.
·
Denial that HIV causes AIDS.
·
Inject able drug use.
·
Using untested and snake oil
“cures” instead of established drugs and practices.
·
Denial of treatment to the
ill, blaming them for the disease.
·
Blaming others for the
problem. Using the “blame-game” in general to avoid the issues at hand.
Only Africans can cure
their AIDS problem.
