Rush's Pathetic NeoCon Supporters

October 13, 2003

Rush blames his problems on his back, then his surgery. He says his addiction is due to medicine that is, well, addictive implying it's not his fault. These are just excuses for his addiction and his failure as a human being.  It shows a defect in his personality and his thinking. His supporters will probably attribute his NFL quarterback remarks to his drug use, after all those drugs do cause mental confusion and paranoia.

Before announcing his drug addiction, he told his radio listeners he was going to find out about "the emerging situation" and return with the facts. When he said that, he already knew about the "emerging situation" and every sordid detail of his "situation". He lied, clear and simple. He just wanted to find out what the authorities had on him and to buy time to hire criminal defense attorney, Roy Black of Miami.

Though he said he takes full responsibility, the underlying excuses still show through. He is trying to make himself a martyr or victim to avoid responsibility for his choices. He needs to remember what he said in 1993:

"I know every expert in the world will disagree with me, but I don't buy into the disease part of it. The first time you reach for a substance you are making a choice. Every time you go back, you are making a personal choice. I feel very strongly about that."         Rush Limbaugh Show - 09-23-93

By saying his isn't heroic for admitting his drug addiction, he tries to make people think he is. Linking the word "heroic"  with his "situation"  makes him look more vulnerable and human. In his world, it is "heroic" to admit to a problem because so few NeoCons do unless caught.

He admitted his drug addiction only after he was caught. By then he had to say and do something. The details of his drug deals show what a pathetic person he has become. For example, the e-mails to his dealer were full of code words like "small blue babies" (Oxycontin) and "cabbage" (money). The phone calls and taped drug deals were probably much the same. Words from an addict to his dealer, in code so others wouldn't know. See how far he has fallen. A man with such venom toward drug addicts is now one himself.

Maybe his show of contrition will keep him from prosecution. He knows, as a rich man, he is shielded from harsh punishment. His show will help the System justify treating him differently like they did with drug addict Noel Bush. She was sent to rehab many times and then home because of her rich in political connections. Thousands were not afforded the path of rehab because they are non-white, poor or middle class. They ARE sent up and for a long time.

In the unlikely event he is tried and convicted, his supporters will whine and say he needs "another chance" and the prison sentence is too harsh. Here is what Rush said about stiff sentences for drug crimes:

In fact, I'm reminded--I had this story about three weeks ag--maybe it was before Christmas, maybe it was as far back as November--but there were a couple of drug convictions out in--I think it was a Colorado court. And these guys had--had done some really bad stuff, and there were mandated federal sentences for the crimes they had committed. And the judge apologized to the criminals while sentencing them because he thought it was too severe. He apologized and the com--the community was outraged. So we've gone from a judge sentencing a mother who makes her child beg six months in jail, to judges apologizing for getting dope dealers and crack dealers and drug salesmen off the streets with too severe a sentence.    Rush Limbaugh Show - 01-15-96

By going to rehab for the third time, he is again seeking help, understanding and compassion, something he has adamantly refused to give to any addict so far. Rehab for Rush is also a way to hide from his personal responsibility and keep the prosecutors off his back so his attorney can come up with a plan..

His NeoCon supporters will say he can become an example to others and in doing so, help others with new compassion and understanding. Don't bet on it. This implies Rush will have learned something from his "situation".

NeoCons will support him, calling people "liberals" for pointing out his hypocrisy. They will exclaim, "You just don't like him, do you?" when confronted with negative comments about his "situation".  NeoCon blather. They can't face the truth so it's blah, blah, blah.

They will blindly support a drug addict, all the while making excuses for his behavior just like they did with Dubya and his cocaine use. Pathetic.

They refuse to see what Rush is..... a leading conservative icon and a drug addict. Remember Rush's words about addicts, "they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up."  Ok then.  Maybe he will take fellow drug user Dubya to prison or rehab with him. They can pray together and ask for an understanding heart and the political strength to change laws targeting non-violent drug users such as themselves.

Don't bet on it.

Oh yeah, this assumes their drug crimes were/are non-violent..
