Racially Motivated Hate Crime by a Black against a White Goes Unpunished

While driving home in late October 2001, a black woman named Chante J. Mallard hit a white man, Gregory Biggs as he walked along the side of a road in Texas.  The impact was so severe that his head and torso became stuck in the  windshield of her car.

The first thing she did was to stop, but not to flag down help, but to remove him from her windshield. Failing that, she drove home and parked her car in her garage with Gregory still stuck in her windshield.

No one beside Mallard, knows what happened in that garage.  Mallard admitted she did nothing to help but did go out and tell Biggs she was sorry about the whole thing. She said she even did this several times, as if this makes everything all right.

Mallard really went out to her garage because she wanted to see if Biggs had freed himself or was dead. To her, he was no more than a bug on the windshield. A nuisance.

Biggs asked her for help and she turned away because Gregory was not only just a bug on her windshield, he was a white person, not worthy of help or compassion. He thought Mallard was a human being, but he was wrong. Mallard was and is an inhumane racist.

In the days that followed and just feet away, she had sex with her boyfriend and  did more drugs and alcohol. She waited two days for Gregory to die because he didn't die easily.

Gregory Biggs could have been saved. He had cuts, bruises and broken legs, but no internal injuries; a condition that would not have caused his death, if Mallard had called for help immediately. But she didn't call anyone to help him, only to help herself.

After Gregory died, she asked some of her friends to help her remove his body from her car. The group took the body to a park and unceremoniously dumped it. I To those black racists that day, Gregory Biggs' body was just white trash.

After this, no one is talked though many knew what happened. After four months, a tipster heard Mallard tell a group at a party about what she and her friends did.

Only a cold hearted racist would talk about something like that at a party.  It is like KKK members who used to talk and even brag about their lynchings at parties. The only difference is a black woman lynched a white man with her car and not a rope from a tree.

Mallard's  attorney's  called the incident an "accident".  You have got to be kidding! Maybe all those KKK lynchings were accidents too. How about the James Byrd incident in Jasper, Texas? Guess those white boys accidentally hooked up poor James Byrd to their pickup and then accidentally dragged him down the road to his horrible death.

Her attorney said Mallard was terrorized, hysterical and confused. It sounds like the attorney was really describing Gregory Biggs in his last days alive. The poor man was in pain, bleeding and stuck in a windshield of a car parked in a dark garage with a tormentor repeatedly checking to see if he was dead.

Her attorney said her drug and alcohol use made her do it.  Nonsense! This is the "Devil made me do it" defense. Where is personal responsibility? But then, only animals are not held personally responsible. Maybe the defense attorney knows that Mallard is an animal. A racist one at that!

Mallard will be tried and hopefully convicted. Unfortunately her racism will not be part of the trial as it should be. If a white person did what Mallard did, they would be prosecuted for a hate crime as they should. There would be demonstrations and public outrage.

Where is the community outrage about Gregory Biggs? What are the anti-racist advocates doing ? Are they demonstrating against Mallard? Are they asking the district attorney's office for hate crime prosecution? No.
