How to Tell if a Commentator is Worth
Listening To
March 3, 2003
There are so many talk shows out on radio and TV
that it drives me crazy. I like to listen to both sides, but all the while
trying to find one that is listen-worthy.
Listen worthy commentators are fair and see both
sides and try to persuade with logic and facts. They can belong to any
political party, religion or geographic area.
There is a solution and if applied, you will be able
to tell a professional speaker from the "Others".
I learned how to do this from a colleague many years
ago. He said, "If they attack you personally, use names or call you names or
put a label on you, then they don't have a case. 'Cause that's all they
have."
I have remembered this advice for over twenty years
and it has worked every time.
So, listen to the comments. If they attack anyone
personally, call them names, or label one person or group as "this or that"
... they don't have a case.
